Archival Boards
Custom manufactured boards made to exacting standards.

We produce several different types of archival boards that vary in thickness, color, size and finish. Each serves a unique purpose, allowing you to create storage and preservation packages made to your own specifications. Our dark gray, gray/white and tan archival boards meet the following specifications:

• 8.5 pH board contains a 3% calcium carbonate reserve.
• No rosin, rosin/alum or acid sizing agents are used during manufacturing.
• Pulp has non-detectable lignin content and contains no groundwood.
• Minimum alpha content of 92%.
• Passes Photographic Activity Test (PAT) per ISO 14523:1999 (formerly ANSI T9.16-1993).
• Passes stiffness, abrasion and colorfast test.
• Includes an inert, acrylic outer coating on gray and gray/white boards.
• Sheets can be cut to your specific dimensions.

High-Density Acrylic-Coated Dark Gray Pamphlet Board

Originally developed for our patented pamphlet binders and music binders, this board is milled for higher density. No other board currently available can match it for abrasion resistance and warp resistance. The dyes used for color will not mix, run or fade. For added protection, we have applied acrylic coating to the board for over 15 years to guard against moisture, abrasion and soiling.

Gray/White Archival Board

This board is perfect for constructing phase boxes or other book storage enclosures. We use it in both our Hinged Board Covers and Archival Folders. For over 15 years we have provided acrylic outer coating which enriches the look, while adding protective qualities. Independent tests for stiffness and abrasion resistance meet the standards set forth by museums and preservation libraries. The dyes used to give the board its gray color will not mix, run or fade.

Sandstone Archival Board

Available in four thicknesses, this board is excellent for phase boxes, folders and shelf-lining. Made from a fully bleached virgin kraft, levels of trace metal impurities are less than the allowable standard of 30 parts per million of copper and one part per million of iron. Colorfast and fade-resistant pigments, rather than dyes, give these boards their soft tan color. Our sandstone archival board exceeds LOC and NARA stiffness and abrasion requirements. We use the board in a variety of our products, including the Custom and Four Flap Enclosure and pockets, Manuscript Folder, Record Album Storage Enclosure, Academy and Newspaper and Map Folder.

• The .010 and .020 boards are solid.
• The .040 board is a three-ply board made with .020 high alpha cellulose white core between two pieces of .010 tan stock.
• The three-ply .060 point board is constructed with .020 alpha cellulose white core with two .020 sandstone stock.

Acid pHree™ Binders Board

This product is made of 100% recycled material, consisting of post-consumer waste, newspaper, corrugated boxes, writing bond and other common papers. It is a good choice for binding projects, book block construction, boxes and temporary book covers.

E-flute Corrugated Archival Board

Made specifically for phase box production systems, our E-flute board is an excellent choice for boxmaking. Great care has gone into ensuring that this material meets archival standards in terms of chemical composition while offering excellent folding strength and rigidity. E-flute has 94 flutes per foot which gives it great crush resistance and has a flat surface for hight quality applications. An extrememly strong corrugated board, the thin profile reduces box size and saves storage space. Its thin profile and excellent cushioning properties make it a good solution for small to medium sized materials.

B-flute Corrugated Archival Board

Our heavier light gray B-flute corrugated board with 50 flutes per foot has excellent crush resistant properties and has a stiff, flat surface for high quality applications. B-flute is a great solution for larger, heavier materials.

Light Gray Archival Board

Our 40 point Light Gray Archival Board is specifically formulated for scoring and folding. This acid-free, lignin free, buffered high quality barrier board will fold easily for hand or machine made phase boxes.
